Sophie's Special Present

Sophie wasn't sure what was happening. The Pony Girls were chattering away together. But they had excluded her. Once in a while they would giggle or look over at her then speak in hushed tones.
She sat down on the edge of the dresser. Her feelings were hurt. She was afraid maybe they didn't like her anymore. Had she done something wrong?
Suddenly the girls turned and walked over to her. Sonata reached out a hand. 'Sophie are you OK? You look so sad,' she said.
Sophie turned. 'Do you still like me?' she asked with a little sniffle.
'Of course!' cried Sonata. 'We love you! What makes you think we don't like you?'
'I saw you talking about me and laughing,' she replied.
'Oh Sophie we were taking about you but not laughing at you. We were talking about your...'
'Sonata! Shhhhh!' hissed Aria.
Sonata tried again. 'It's just that we got you a...'
'Geez, Sonata,' said Aria, pinching her shoulder. 'Ow!' cried Sonata.
Aria shoved Sonata behind her and stood in front of Sophie. 'Well we might as well tell you now. It WAS a surprise,' she said, glancing back at Sonata. She reached into her bunk and took out a little doll. She handed it to Sophie. 'We bought you this. Mommy helped us. We told her that you needed someone to practice with and we were so proud of you for working so hard at your ballet.'
Sophie was shocked. She took the doll in her little hands. 'Oh Aria she's so beautiful! Lol, she even looks like me! I didn't know. I'm sorry I thought mean things.'
'It's ok, Sophie. We shouldn't have been so weird about it.'
Sophie showed Mommy her doll.
Then she hugged Aria. 'Thank you for a wonderful present. I love her and I love you!'
'I love you, too,' Aria replied.
Next she hugged Sonata. 'Thank you, Sonata. I love you even though you can't keep a secret.' Sonata laughed and said, 'Wait till you hear about your birthday present!'
Then she hugged Melody. 'Thank you, Melody! I love you!'
Melody happily hugged her back. 'Best friends forever!' she said.
She showed Henry. He sniffled the doll and wagged his tail.
She showed Gilbert. He wanted to play Bone.
She showed Taffy the Alpaca. Taffy just stood there. But she did let the tiny doll ride on her back.
Then she showed Mommy again. 'She's wonderful, Sophie. You have very sweet sisters.'
Then she showed Mommy how she could hold her doll like a baby.
Sophie climbed down the dresser and made her way up Max's ramp. Holly was playing at the top and she wanted to show her her new doll. But Holly was busy with a feather and didn't take much notice.
Max was asleep so she decided she'd show him later. She knew he'd like her doll. So she rolled into her back and lifted her precious gift up in the air and admired her. Mommy was right. Sophie had the best sisters ever.
The End.

This will be our last blog that features Max. We miss him so much since he went to Heaven. We lovingly dedicate all our adventures to our friend who cared for us and helped keep us safe. We love you, Max.
